  1. New Albums

Hello World! I've created a few albums to house the hand drawn pen and paper maps I post. Multiple albums to keep myself and my art organized. Most maps I post here are Works in Progress and not finals. Finalized maps I release exclusively to my Patrons.

Any and all comments are welcomed, even the criticizing ones too. Thanks!
  2. The Tumbleweed keeps on rolling...

I knew this blog would be infrequent when I started it but I guess six years between posts is long enough.

Since I last updated, coding-wise, I've had bounteous times and barren times. I've had six months on and years off. I've added stuff, removed stuff, edited stuff and generally prevaricated the time away.

Some of the "Things" have changed immensely in that period of time (HillThing and TextThing) and others have hardly been touched (TreeThing and BorderControl), ...

  3. The Maps in my 5'' by 8.25'' Moleskin: City Protecting a Scarce and Holy Water Spring

Preliminary Note: The city itself is only 7 inches long and completely hand drawn

The idea is simple: a sacred water source with generative powers (various entities emerge from the water and must be protect in the sites around the central spring's lake) is the nexus of a city. Not only is the surrounding landscape desert and the water is important to survive, but the generative powers cannot be allowed to enter the hands of others.... This blog post contains some of my thoughts as ...
  4. The Maps in my 5'' by 8.25'' Moleskin: City as Generative Locus 3.16.19

Another hand-drawn map in my 5'' by 8.25'' Moleskin....

I am exploring the idea of a city as a generative locus -- particular locations in a world that generate various properties -- hence the protective walls around the creek headwaters that flow through the city.

    Enjoy!

Note: I'd love to hear comments, suggestions, tips, etc. I've only recently restarted creating hand-drawn maps.

  5. New Year.

New year, and new year resolution; get back into cartography now the holiday season has ended.

This map I drew yesterday to get back into the swing of it. Nothing special, but it was good fun.

I plan to colour and name the major cities over the following week, then re-scan and re-upload. I may or may not digital-ise it through gimp, I don't know yet so we'll see.
