Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

This project has taken a few unexpected turns. I spent a lot of time wracking my brain over the issue of scale bars. Almost all of the maps given in the Paizo material has a scale bar. Presumably, Paizo has the Inner Sea map saved in a way that allows them to capture regions and zoom in. One would further assume that of they were matched up in the right projection, in the right geographic area, that they would all agree. I have found this to be impossible to reconcile. ...
Hello, This post is to get some ideas down and make a plan. I want to make a GIS of the Inner Sea that will be searchable, measurable, zoomable, and interactive. I want a player or gamemaster to be able to learn about areas in an easy way. There are two sides to this project. Both start by georeferencing the map of the Inner Sea. Paizo has published a global map of Golarion. It is not to scale but it is still a good guide for where the Inner Sea is. ...
