  1. Inner Sea GIS Goes Underground

    Hi,

I have been mapping the Darklands these past few days. My campaign will be travelling through them and I wanted a visual.

Here's what I got so far:

  2. Inner Sea GIS update

Ok, I have completed the first phase:

    1. Created a GIS with a GCS-WGS-1984 projection
    2. Converted the map from the Inner Sea Map Folio from PDF to JPG
      Imported them into Arcmap
    3. Using the Golarion map from the Inner Sea World Guide as a guide, I georeferenced the four images. The scalar given on the map is 100% correct at the equator.
    4. From this basemap:
    5. Digitized rivers: All of them. 15/167 are unnamed
      Attributes: Name, Watershed, Length, Direction,
    ...

  3. Inner Sea GIS Project

This project has taken a few unexpected turns.

I spent a lot of time wracking my brain over the issue of scale bars. Almost all of the maps given in the Paizo material has a scale bar. Presumably, Paizo has the Inner Sea map saved in a way that allows them to capture regions and zoom in. One would further assume that of they were matched up in the right projection, in the right geographic area, that they would all agree. I have found this to be impossible to reconcile.

  4. A GIS of the Inner Sea region of Golarion

    Hello,

This post is to get some ideas down and make a plan.

I want to make a GIS of the Inner Sea that will be searchable, measurable, zoomable, and interactive. I want a player or gamemaster to be able to learn about areas in an easy way.

There are two sides to this project. Both start by georeferencing the map of the Inner Sea. Paizo has published a global map of Golarion. It is not to scale but it is still a good guide for where the Inner Sea is. ...
