February/March 2016 Lite Challenge Results
Published on 03-21-2016 10:17 AM
The February/March Lite Challenge, as suggested by Corilliant, was 'Map a Railway'. Entrants were encouraged to make any style of map they chose, provided the focus was on the railway.
We had some wonderful and highly imaginative entries this month, including
a post-apocalyptic Cornwall (the less said about the town of 'Foulmouth', the better!) and
an isometric Minecraft map. We also had
a hand-drawn train track from the American Wild West, and a charming scene showing the explorations of
a child with his new train on Christmas Day.
Our winner this month is Savage Orc, a first time entrant to the challenge. The winning map, 'The Heist' outlines the devious plots of Grocco and Doffer, and their cunning plan to rob a train... or something like that! View the
WIP thread here.
Well done to Savage Orc for a beautifully made and very humorous map. Your first silver compass is on its way. Just don't let Doffer near it!
The March-April 2016 Lite Challenge is now live and, because of the late start, it's a simpler one than usual. This month, Guilders are tasked with making a Compass Rose or a Map Scale. At the end of the challenge, the elements created are available to other Guilders to use on their own maps, so even if you can't join in, do drop by and encourage the participants. We ran this challenge a few years ago and it was very popular, so we're hoping for some good results again this month. More info in the
Lite Challenge folder.
Finally, we'd like to remind everyone that we have a thread where you can submit suggestions for future challenges. If you have an idea that you think other Guilders might enjoy, please start a topic
in this folder.
