    Cartogryphia and the Rhume Islands

    April / May Lite Challenge

We had a somewhat meta theme for our Lite Challenge this month. Guilders were asked to 'Map Cartographerville'. Bogie wrote...

Where do all those pesky Guilders come from? I want you to map a village, town, city, enclave, grotto, or underdark community. The one condition is that the map clearly shows where the Guilders live. Other than that you can make the map in any genre, any style you want.

A few entrants decided to have fun with their fellow Guilders, including Frost Birch's entry 'Stonebridge', a Guild town, and InfiniteBlue88's book with cute illustrations of Guild members' houses in map 'Once upon a time'. Among the other entries, 000 went for a more abstract style in 'Map Cartographerville', and Baron Sarin created a city map in 'Guide to the Stars'. We had a couple of unfinished entries from Straf and tilt, and we hope these get finished up some time soon.

Our congratulations this month go to GLS for political-style map 'Cartogryphia and the Rhume Islands'. Not only is the map beautifully drawn and coloured, GLS gets bonus points for his tweaks on numerous Guild members' names. This is the third silver compass for GLS, so no more Lite Challenges for you!

    May/June Lite Challenge

The new challenge is up and running, and this time your task is to 'Map a Summer Vacation Getaway'. Bogie says...

Summer is upon us (at least for those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere). So your challenge is to map a summer vacation getaway. A trip to the Bahamas, Disney World, Camping in the Mountains, Backpacking through Europe, Cruising from Seattle to Alaska, a What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas Vacation. You can map the journey / route to get there or a map of the destination and the things you would like to do. This could be a real vacation that you are planning, or a dream vacation if you win the lottery. Other than that you can make the map in any genre, any style you want.

More info on the challenge here. Let's see some holiday hotspots!
