  • Weekly Round-up - 16th April, 2018

  1. Welcome!

The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.

Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ. You will have to register before you can post or view full size images in the forums.

Welcome to the weekly round-up, a summary of what’s happened at the Guild over the past seven days.

    Challenge News

March/April 2018 Lite Challenge : Map Guild World

At the time of publishing, voting is currently underway for the March/April Lite Challenge, so head for the voting thread and pick your favourites.

    April 2018 Challenge : Map a Realm

April’s challenge, using the ever popular Donjon generator, is another great one with over a dozen entries at the time of writing. There’s still time to enter, so hit up the generator, claim your realm, and start mapping.

If you have questions, or want to more info, take a look at Diamond’s intro thread, or take a peek at the current entries via the challenge folder.

    Challenge Suggestions

Daistallia suggests we ‘Map a Song’. We did this once before, and it was a popular challenge, so if you’d like a re-run, go vote up the suggestion.
