Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

Thanks a lot for the rep and for your kind words, Mouse! Much appreciated. It is indeed really great to have access to a chalkboard, as I find chalk drawing very rewarding. It's suitable for lettering, calligraphy, drawing, note taking, brain storming and, of course, map making... =) The nice thing is that it's fairly easy to get a chalkboard wall with minimal investment nowadays, and if you're feeling inclined to it, it's a cool DIY project. All you need is a small can of blackboard paint, a roller and a couple of hours (and then a lot of patience and self restraint to let it fully dry without touching it =). If you want more details about how I done mine, let me know. I'd be glad to help.
