Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.
If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ. You will have to register before you can post or view full size images in the forums.
Hehe that is fun coming over here and seeing flying mouse. Makes me smile I'm glad you got some sleep after all that work on Malacandra. It really is a lovely map. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece in a few weeks, whenever you get it done.
Aw thanks, Chashio
Congratulations on the Challenge win, Mouse! About time and well earned.
You're welcome - It was just so cool
Haha! Thank you for the rep and comment, Mouse
I think so too. And don't worry I'll remind ya about the animals if ya forget
Thanks for the rep and the comment, Chashio Much appreciated. I've always believed that talking about the things that go wrong with a map is just as important as telling everyone about the things that went right btw - I'm still up to my neck in a pile of grass textures, but I haven't forgotten the animals
I really doubt that you could do a bad one, but if you insist (and after I finish a couple of textures I'm working on right now) I might just have a go
You really can't kill me any worse than I've already done [and still do] in all of my sketchbooks So... yes. If you wish to do it, I would like to see you try And if it helps, I'll share a bunch of hilariously bad sketches from my sketchbooks, just to get ya started
You really want that? I mean.... I can do landscape stuff, but animals? Hmmmn.... I can't. I'm too afraid that I might end up drawing something so bad you might even end up dying of laughter!
