Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

It's a beautiful map, Greg - of course I repped it And thank you - its great to be back!
Thanks for the rep and comments, Mouse, I was really happy with how it turned out. Great to have you back on the Guild with us!
Thank you again! And I don't mind which name you call me. Mouse was once an affectionate nickname I was given by a much loved friend, so its the same thing really
Aw, thank you Sue! Though it's not true what you say, your maps definitely ooze the professional quality. I'm just blown away and inspired by seeing your Erahum map develop - those cliffs are just G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S. So don't put yourself down, we always see the flaws in our own pieces, and believe me yours are nothing short of stunning! Also, I don't know why, but I always mix between calling you Sue and calling you Mouse.
Aaaaaw.... *deep blush* Thank you! That's very kind of you to remember that little piece. I still think I have a way to go just yet, before I manage to achieve an all-over 'professional finish' the way you seem to already have mastered in your own maps There's a couple of yours I was already thinking about nominating. So don't go thinking I only nominated them because of that! LOL!
Thanks Mouse, that makes me smile. I definitely think I've improved a lot since I started mapping and I do love to style-hop a fair bit and experiment, but I do love doing these more elegant type of maps the most. I'd still love to be able to do what you do, both with your CC3+ stuff, but mostly with your beautiful hand-drawn/GIMP pieces. And don't you worry, I've still got your lovely Road to Tiamis ear-marked for this year's atlas awards!
Aw, thank you Greg I'm very daunted by the idea of having to map anything quicker than at my usual snail's pace! LOL! If I do take part in the future, it will have to be on a faster machine. I seem to spend most of my time making coffee while my screen is telling me "Krita (not responding)", or "GIMP (not responding)" I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your new collection
Yeah, you definitely should! Mind you, you've already got such an impressive and diverse range of work on here, I'd been a bit daunted by the idea of even more Mouse Mapvember madness! I should have a couple more pieces on the way soon.
Well if its any comfort I burned out by just thinking about it. That's why I never even started it Maybe I should have a go sometime - not to do a map each day, necessarily, but to do what you have done and build a collection of attractive and interesting maps
Thanks Mouse, I always took Mapvember for experimenting with different styles and perhaps that's why I burned out a tad. But I've been pleased with what I've come up with, so I'm glad you like it too!
