Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

Haha, nice one. Subtle but certainly an interesting way to vent out all of the rubbish that life can throw at us. Yeah, and maps have certainly been a welcome distraction to help me get through too. Though sometimes they're just a right pain when they're not going right, then it's back to real life to escape from them!
Haha, often, out of curiosity, i sadly can't stay "zen" enough to resist digging too deep through the gianormous heaps of bull**** (on my doorsteps and around the world). Some time ago i had a situation where i was researching some stuff that left me screaming like a madmen in front of my screen and i remembered this wonderful scene from Network. So i just put together this pic to maybe use it one day as a screen(and mind-)saver or something. Last weekend i was again in a similar kind of "mood" and tried to express it in this more subtle way than i did some times before in my life... (uploading pics to a forum account is certainly not as itchy in the eyes) Well, if the anger rises with the bull**** level to unbearable heights, it's great for me to have this wonderful escapist strategy to draw maps of imaginative places, or, to once more borrowing John's phrase, to "imagine better worlds"
Hey Abu, just noticed the new avatar pic. How long have you been "mad as hell" for? My old avatar pic was film related, but no-one ever commented (thought to be fair, it was a preeetty obscure film...)
Haha, well, I was just thinking of returning to do some more traditional pieces myself, but now that you say that, I'm worried my computer might get jealous too...
Thanks for the rep GLS! I lately went over to work more often traditionally with pen on paper. Maybe my computer was a bit jealous and crashed my first entirely digital work after a too long time... XD
Thanks for the rep, the vote and your kind words GLS. I greatly appreciate it!
