Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

Actually, I did get a chance to do that. You can nab the pack right here in the Mapping Resources section. Here is a link to the thread: http://forum.cartographersguild.com/...ead.php?t=4571 Hope that helps I've been desperately trying to work on some more mapping but time is currently a commodity that is in short supply. If you have any questions about the brushes, just send me a message and I'll try to help as best I can. As far as Desert goes, I tried and tried to come up with a meaningful desert texture or pattern and ultimately came up empty. In "Avani" the words and mountains alone differentiate the Desert from the Plain to a degree of success that was passable. I haven't tried anything with jungle just yet, but I suppose a new tree pattern and a few more "tropical" style brushes could probably do the job. If I see anything I'll try to link it for you. I can't think of anything offhand. Glad you liked the map, thanks for the kind words! Wag
Wag, I was just curious if you had been able to compile your brushes from your Avani map into a pack that I could possibly steal....er I mean download. I'm new to this whole PS/mapping thing and am desperately looking for any assistance. I'm looking to create something using Ascension's tutorial for creating an antique style map but want to use more hand-drawn styled icons on it and yours are exactly what I had in mind. That map is frickin' beautiful! If you haven't had the time or would rather not hand them out I completely understand. I'm sure it took more than a little of your personal time creating them all. On a side note - I'm looking to represent a desert and a jungle on my map but am unsure of what to use for icons...any ideas? Thanks, Jord
