Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

Hey Steffen, thanks a lot for the rep on the Lovecraft map, it was a fun little one
Thank you for the Rep, ThomasR! Have a great Sunday =)
A man of good taste I see. Alright
Man, every time you post a map, you drop a masterclass ! I owe you... but I'm partial to black IPAs
And thank you - again - for the rep! Should I ever meet you in person, I think I owe you a beer at some point...
Yeah, I used to work on my mac, too, but I had to change to a workhorse when my fan started to dictate the style of map and size I can go for. This is something I want in my hands. It would have also barred me from doing certain jobs. Big no-no
Oh, it works (made do with a 1.9 Gb map recently) but the temperature management system is not ideal on these beasts. Fan starts really quickly.
I don't know how you do it then if your mac quickly on its knees, but it certainly doesn't hurt your stuff - it's awesome!
I'm sure you have a good pile of gigantic maps I can hear my MacBook fans screaming if I worked on such a beast (they always scream )
Haha, actually not because of this one, believe it or not! Thank you!
