Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.
If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ. You will have to register before you can post or view full size images in the forums.
Anytime, Abu, anytime!
You're too kind Thank you very much for your kind words!
You bet Abu!
Danke Martin ! It was, indeed, two weeks with four anniversaries (my wife and I met between our birthdays). Let's say, we partied a lot
Thanks for your vote, Abu Lafia !
I do remember when you joined, Abu, and that I made a lot of comments on your first maps. I'm glad you're still around, and I am truly impressed at how good your maps have become. Wingshaw
I studied "Religionswissenschaft" (academic, non-theological study of religion) in Hannover, Germany, but the lecturers were a british ethnomusicologist (Thomas Hilder) and a norwegian scholar of religion (Håkan Rydving) Btw. there is a famous finnish journal for the study of religion with regular articles on "nordic religion and folklore" (ofc, all those categories are rather problematic in the academy! ) called "Temenos- Nordic Journal of Comparative Religion". Best thing is, they seem to have their whole archive freely accessible as pdfs nowadays... ...hmm i can't put the journal's address in the message... just google for the name in case it interests you.. a lot to dig there
Wow, that's fascinating! Might I ask where you studied?
Many thanks for the nice comment on my latest! Made me smile
Thanks for the vote on "Operation Swiss Cheese" - much appreciated
