I've had fun with wilbur lately . Here's the result of my tests. It's based on real contour lines (guess the region, it's pretty small) and I'm glad of the result.

Great job Ilanthar, I think you've got a keeper.

Nice new style Ilanthar ! The map could have used some better composition though. The compass looks oversized and more empty space (sea) all around the map would have balanced the overall compostion better in my opinion. As it stands for now, both compass and lands loos a bit stucked in a tight canvas.
I like the shadow, that turned out pretty great. Doing the contour lines into wilbur obviously is a fantastic idea, I also like how they extend below the water. Wonderful looking map overall, I kind of wish there was a scale though.
nice style Ilanthar!

This is a very attractive map with lovely colours, and the mountain shading and contour lines look great. I'd like to try something like this myself one of these days.
Once again I'm impressed at how you push yourself to try new things in mapping.

Very successful tests! I noticed just now that it looks like a tiny bit of the island has been cropped out in the north, so like Max said, a little bit more space would've been nice. But I really like what you designed here
Thanks a lot everyone!
I'm glad you like it since I'm gonna use this new style for other maps.

I've been in a haste for trying this style on my guildworld map, and thus did not really take care of everything. You both have very good points, thanks for pointing them!By Falconius

I'd look forward to see that !By ChickPea

Very nice island! Good colours.
I simply love such mapping style, you were able to master contours and shadows and the 3d effect is just there.
Since you pointed out the equidistance of contours (50 m), a map scale would have been useful too. By the way, I guess you wanted to arouse a sense of "undefined" place.
