    Map Warhamemer Fantasy Map (hand-drawn)

    Greetings!

The map I drew for Polish Warhammer fans to raise funds for the Hospice in my town.

    The inscription says:

    "Map of the Glorious Empire
    and the neighbouring realms
    drawn anno 2020 post Sigmarum
as a vote of thanksgiving for the Hospice of
    Most Holy Shallya
    in Delberz
in remembrance of the fight against Plague
    by Dieter M. Steinau"

I've been playing WFRP for 25 years, so the map shows more of my vision of the Old World than that was described in the official supplements.

    I hope you enjoy it.

    Hand drawn.
    300 g white bristol paper.
Inks (black, red, silver & gold) with a touch of blue watercolor.
    Map dimensions: 100x70 cm.

Looks as detailed as ever! There is a distinctive difference in the levels of shading that you add to your deciduous trees as compared to your coniferous ones. It makes the coniferous trees look a bit more faded. However, it still looks great and is definitely worth it, if your hand can still hold the pen!

Gotta start by saying, I totally love this. Your calligraphy is really nice. The whole thing is going to look nice at a bit of a distance on somebody's wall.

Some your larger text labels are tough to read (specifically the orange 'imperium' and the grey 'ostermark', 'hochland', etc). Maybe adding some drop shadow type outlines in a darker shade of the color already there would help next time?

These labels are not orange or grey, although they may look like this on a scan. This is metallic gold (Imperium) and metalic silver.
On the original map, they look very good, reflect light nicely, are eye-catching and are readable. However, this effect disappears on the photo or after scanning.

I caught that effect in a video.

I'm curious to see if we can get that metallic shine into print.

I just watched the video and completely take back what I said. The metallic effect is very nice. Too bad it doesn't come through in a photo/scan.

This is a very nice map indeed. I lake the shading a lot, but what I like most is the labelling and how it relates to the whole map.
And those really are a large amount of trees...

Wow! And I thought I did cartography. This is a seriously badass map. You have my respect, this is really a masterpiece. And wow, how much patience do you have for those forests? Great work, deserves a CC award.

I already said it in the WIP thread, but wow, IC... what a piece of work !!
Metallic inks are so rewarding for physical map, but sadly often so disappointing once numerised... but the video helps us to imagine the feeling : thanks for it !

There's a very distinct style to your maps which makes them instantly recognizable.

The consistency in all the details is top-notch. It's remakably clear and efficient, great work !
