    Default Map a Novel

I just finished reading a book called Wool. It is set in a "silo" - it is a huge underground structure (probably more like an arcology really). But it's mappable based on the description in the book and this is what inspired this suggestion.

My proposal is to make a map based on a novel or short story. So it could be Silo 18 from the aforementioned book, or Camorr from the Lies of Locke Lamorra or any place from any place in any short story, novella, or novel you have read.

    What do you think?

We've done that before, but I'd definitely be up for doing it again!

I've read only Ancillary Justice and I think it's one of the worst sci-fi stories I've read in years - a matter of taste, of course. A map can only improve it.

Ancillary Justice does come with a high pedigree--winning the Hugo, Nebula, BSFA, Clarke, and Locus awards--but taste is certainly idiosyncratic. To each her own.

I love Larb's idea of mapping Camorr from Lies of Locke Lamora. We only got a very basic map with the book, and the setting is positively *begging* for a really detailed, beautiful treatment (I'd say in perspective or isometric style).

Oh man, I would *love* to see some maps of Camorr, hopefully with the Elderglass towers, and maybe a couple of Jumping Murder Sharks (cos every map needs some map monsters!) I absolutely adore Scott Lynch.

Yes, the Gentleman Bastards series is great but the first book is my favourite. I've not read Republic of Thieves yet but it is sitting on a shelf awaiting my attention. I want to finish off the Silo trilogy first though.

A friend of mine used the simple map on Scott Lynch's website and annotated a print out of it as he read through it with the location of the various places. I'll have to dig out the scan of it should anyone decide to do it.
