Wip July/Aug '20 Lite Challenge: Lake of Broken Dreams

So, I decided that the shape was water. I'll be doing the whole map with historical brushes (in GIMP) so kindly made available by K. M. Alexander. I've been wanting to play around with them for awhile. I will note that since I've installed (all of) them, GIMP takes a little longer to open.

    Welcome to the Challenge!
You guessed well, as did a few others, the original shape is actually a Lake as seen by google earth.

Yeah, I've used a few of KMA's brushes, but I have to cut them up from the main file to get them into OWM. They're pretty useful. Nice start. I thought it looked lakey.

This may be all the stamps. I'll label things, then see how it looks.

This may be the final version, pending any suggestions or last-minute inspiration.

If I mix the brushes again, I think I'll want a separate layer for each set, since some of them are very dark, while others are much lighter gray, and it would be useful to try to get them a little more closely matched if blending them in a single map.

    I like the labeling.

My one bit of advice would be to put a border on it. Not every map needs a border, but there is a lot of open space on the map that might make it look unfinished. Adding a border would give it a more finished look. As always you are free to ignore free advice (you get what you pay for

After trying a few different options, I thought a thin black border looked best.
