Map [Map Collection] Reavers of Harkenwold

    EDIT:
Since I'm just going through the maps for each encounter in Reavers of Harkenwold (adventure from 4EE DM's Kit), I'm just going to consolidate them all into one thread.

    ---------------
Made with DD3; I was fiddling around with the Jon Robert's Annual pack and decided to just make a whole map using only stuff from the pack (except for the cart, that's from CSUAC). The crapper is actually a pit trap shrunken down. Exported it out at 100px/5ft, 80% JPG, so it should work for anyone's VTT. Enjoy!

Battlemap mapping is not normally my thing, but I have to admit this is very well done. The calm colors go excellently with each other.
The best maps are the ones we like the most after looking at the longest.

    Default Stone Circle Ambush

    E3.jpg

A wilderness trail next to a stonehenge circle, with a cart the party will be ambushing. (I might make the map without the cart and just use a token for it.)

    Default Another Farmstead

Farmstead where the party will ambush brigands that are raiding Harkenwold.

Excellent work again Xorne! My only complaint is the tracks in the road are to straight and the turns are to angled.

Bogie I assume those are railway tracks (?). There seems to be a train wagon in the stone-circles map. Steampunk genre?

I agree with foremost your colouring is excellent and I particularly like the abstract representation of the stone circle. The last map is signficantly better than the first one - notably the shadows on the vegetable patch and the scale of the floorboards. I dislike the bevelled effect on the wooden frame - it looks cheap and plastic; perhaps reduce the thickness of the bevel by half or try something else; & you might also consider heavily reducing the saturation value of that wooden border to make it look less plastic.

That's a good idea, I'll use a much thinner wood line and just put a glow on it instead of a bevel.

I'm not terribly happy with the wagon tracks (which is what those are supposed to be). I haven't drawn many parabolic lines with CC3; I need practice--plus I haven't figured out how to draw an offset line, as opposed to just copying a line. Ideally there should be a split in the tracks at turns, as the back wheels won't follow the same path as the front.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I never noticed how big the boards on the first map were; I scaled down the boards this time (I'll be making those little corrections to the other maps later).
