Wip Mar/Apr '20 Lite Challenge: Provinces of Wolfe Island

Okay, gonna try to jump in on this. Hopefully work and family (everybody is healthy at the moment) won't come crashing down on me over the next two weeks.

The name is a little "cheesy," but it is what it is. If I have time, I will try to come up with some back story for this, but, again, not gonna hold my breath. Got a basic outline done, but haven't cut in the rivers yet, so I expect it'll change some between now and the final version.

    Anyway...

First batch of mountains laid in. Gonna have to reposition a few lakes, but feel okay about things so far.

Oh my, those mountains look gorgeous with their shaded peaks! I also love the texture your gave to the coastline. What software do you use? Keep up the good work!

The coastal texture comes via a little precipiton erosion in Wilbur. Basically it is a black and white image (white being the land) with a tiny bit of percentage noise then a few passes of precipiton erosion on the land only. Inverted the selection, filled the non-land area with a set value equal to the highest point of the land area, saved as a .BMP file then used as a layer in paint shop pro.

    That's a pretty big island.
I like all the little islands scattered around it.

Good to see you doing a challenge again.

Thank you kindly. Still struggling for time given the current chaos.

And yes, it is a big island, but may be looking a little bigger than it should at the moment. Hoping to fix that.

As mentioned in another thread, I've been struggling with this a little bit. Got lots on my mind between work, family, and the chaos of covid-19, but I ain't giving up yet.

Bkh mentioned that it was a large island, and it is supposed to be, but I think in not varying the size of the mountains, it was maybe looking larger than it should, so I've started reworking the mountains with a little more variation in size. Also worked to keep them from occupying the middle of the land mass. Think that except for a few little tweaks, I am done with the mountains on the western portion of the island. Still need to place eastern mountains then get started on the other details.
