    Wip Nature Center Map

Here is a map I did for the Cincinnati Nature Center for their brochure, I decided to redo it as an illustrative map. I've pulled the Topographic, Hillshade, Waterways from USGS website (four quads that had to be pieced together) and overlayed the TRAILS, roads, building from the brochure map as a starting point. Now I'm working my way around the trails as I remember them from running the trails for 4 years. I no longer work there but had a great experience doing signage and exhibits. Here is the Brochure Map and the Base Map I am starting from.

Struggling with the Top Down view, especially in the valleys., keep plugging away and see if it turns into something worthwhileCNC_03b.jpg

You're off to a great start. I really like the way you've done the cliff effect along the river's edge. It looks great.

Just a partial area. Line weights a little inconsistent, still trying to get the hang of TOP DOWN illustration. Outline and base color of forest only, will add highlights and shadows much later, now that I have an idea of elements, may try to work on line work only for awhile.

My hand hurts! Done for the day. Lots of forests in a nature center. Worked on the Geology Trail along the main creek bed, which crosses the creek a couple times. Add some details around the visitor center. Just a Partial part of the map. Comments welcome.

It looks great, Ric! How accurate are you being with the trees? Decorative, or are you using something like google satellite view to actually get them placed correctly?

Thanks j.e. Lots of inspiration from your forest. Chick mostly from memory, I worked here for 5 years part time and ran the 17 miles of trails many times
