I voted yes...and I would particularly love to sponsor such an event. I'm not sure what the Cartographers Guild could offer as a prize just yet...but I'm sure some kind of prize can be offered up.
One prize idea: A prestige rank on the forums for contest winner...similar to CGTalk.com. Of course this may or may not come with a tangible prize.
I voted yes as well, but I'm not sure if time would allow me to participate.
Contests are fun, I get a lot of mapping idea's from looking at peoples submissions. Good Idea.

cool if we can get 10 or so yes's it would be great

and YES provision can be made for judge map submissons
i have a bit of experince running maps contests so can
work it out......
i was thinking the prize would be a VERY SMALL gift
certificate for like amazon dot com....i'm doing that
on 2 other sites for similar contests....
