    Map The continent of Szerer

    My fellow cartographers,
I would like to show you my latest world map of Szerer.

This time I came up with the idea that it should be a large map used in primary schools to teach geography.
The map that a travelling teacher carries with him from village to village, hangs on the wall of the cottage and shows the children what the world they live in looks like.

And besides, I wanted a big map that I could print out on a blanket.

As you can see, the map is heavily inspired by maps from the European Renaissance period.

I drew the map on 16 A3 sheets.

It quickly became apparent that this was not the wisest idea, as I had to spread these sheets of paper out on the floor to get them to align properly.

I scanned the sheets separately and assembled them together using Gimp.

    Please write what you think?

That's really good, the idea and the map itself... and I cannot even imagine the amount of work it cost to you.

Fantastic! I love your drawing style, and this is incredible. I can't even contemplate how difficult it must have been to draw on 16 different sheets.

It's quite impressive, keeping everything aligned must have been a challenge, awesome result.

My favorite part is probably the cat licking its butt, I mean come on, hilarious.

    Thank you!
I definitely still need to work on organising my work when drawing on several sheets.
I have found that it is best to start with the bottom right tile and draw the sheets from right to left and bottom to top. It is then easier to put all the pieces together.

I've just uploaded a large scan (6374x9000px) to Deviant Art. Link here: https://www.deviantart.com/mapyniepr...arna-874729424

You can look at the details if you wish.

Would love to tell you what I think, but I am, for the most part, just speechless. That is an insane amount of work, but the results, IMHO, are well worth the effort. Just plain amazing!
