My budget is $600 to $800, but I am more than willing to go up to $1,000 or whatever is realistic to get this done.
Subject
Hello everyone! I'm looking to commission a world map for a D&D world I've worked on since middle school. While I mainly use this world for D&D, I have been writing on and off a fantasy novel. I am looking for a detailed world map that I can use for a World Map > Continent Map > Region Map > Country Map. This level of detail will allow me to build areas without spending additional money on more maps. Similar to the Golarion maps done by Rob McCaleb. I've made a map in other programs, but they seem too amateur for what I am looking for, and copy far too much from maps I like. I am looking for an artist who can elevate my ideas and transform it into something greater than my limited art style can allow and make my world more original. I'm looking for something realistic.
I have some general ideas that I want to retain and keep, but beyond some sticky points of geography, the map will primarily be up to the artist.
Style
I prefer something similar to the Golarion world map or something on par with Anbennar's world map.
Quality and Size
I'm looking for something professional-looking that can stand the test of time. I'd also like something that can be zoomed in on for different maps (WM > CM > RM > Country Map). I can handle roads, points of interest, cities, and borders.
It should be usable on the web.
I am very uneducated about the size and what it needs to be to fit the criteria.
Time Constraints
There is no real-time constraint but a realistic time to complete the project. I prefer a couple of months, but again, I am ignorant.
Copyright
I want the artist to have copyright control or whatever they can agree to. While I am writing stories, I don't see myself ever publishing; this is mainly a hobby for me to destress after work.
