Wip Mar/Apr '21 Lite Challenge: The village of Spring and the curse of winter

I had several weird and wonderful ideas for the challenge this month but I've decided to go with the village of Spring.

The map is styled as a storybook with the map of the village shown on one side in isometric and the other side contains a ballad explaining the story of the villages current situation. The idea is that this village of spring is pretty much the ultimate spring location as far as the locals are concerned and the season is always eagerly anticipated. But several years ago the village's residents angered a powerful fey magic-user who cursed the town with an endless winter.

So far I've done the pencil draft layer and about half of the inking in. My current progress is shown below.

Really great start here. I can only imagine how long it must have taken to design those letters by hand...

Thanks Arimel, for the text I'm using a gothic font called Ancient that I found on dafont.com. It does take a very long time to write in the text though, I think I spend several hours on just the text for this map.

Thanks Simkin, the map area on this one will be a bit different than usual as everything in the town is covered in snow but I'm definitely planning on working some vibrant colours into the borders. Colouring the ice and snow will be a nice challenge though as I haven't really done ice and snow before.

Here is the latest update anyway. I finished the text, added some filigree on one of the borders and started inking in the town.

You can't truly understand how long it takes to hand letter unless you try hand lettering. T_T Hours and hours just on the text. It's like drawing each letter. Respect.

Thanks Bogie, I'm really pleased with the way it's coming along.

I made some further progress. I filled in more of the town map, finished the book edge and did the first half of the filigree around the town border.
