    Notes on this:
This is just the base. I'm planning on posting various stages and questions as I work through the tectonics (working backwards a bit as well as current), relief, climates, cultures, political, etc.

The world is roughly Earth sized. Boring but simple.

This is one of two projects I'm working on. I'll post the other at some future point.

    Questions and critiques welcome.

Well continents shapes look very good and belieaveable so far.

    Thanks.

Next up should be the geological provinces and tectonics. Just found gplate, and working on getting that figured out.

    Hi Daistallia,

I agree, I like the shape and spacing of the continents - the tectonics look like they shouldn't be too troublesome to work out. I made the mistake of creating a complicated layout and working backwards to the tectonics. Will you be including any island arcs? I find they add nice detail to a map made of large continents.

Yes on the island arcs. I have a rough idea of the plates and so a rough idea of where islands will be. They'll be added in as I go.

As I'm doing up the plates, I've got a question on how realistic/plausable a particular plate setup is.

On the western verge of the southern part of the large northern continent there's a long narrow peninsula with a long narrow sea separating it from the larger peninsula to the east.

Is it plausable to have a long narrow microplate with subduction boundary off the west coast and a spreading boundary down that sea?

On the phone at the moment. I'll post a pic if needed for clarity tomorrow.

And there's a quickie of the query...
