    Post Camoa - An Island

    Hi there!

Camoa was just some doodeling around - when it suddenly got serious.
it's done with ink on paper and the size of the island is about 7 x 9 cm.
I'm not sure about the scale, but i think it's not a very big island, with a
pretty harsh clima in the northern half and the mountains.

    Cheers leen

I like it a lot. Reminds me a little of the maps in the Hobbit and LoTR. Neatly done, without losing that beautiful hand-drawn look. The labeling is good too, very clear. The color is just different enough to see it well against the black lines, without contrasting too strongly. I'd love to see this just set over a nice parchment or book-page texture. The compass rose is really nice too, and fits in quite seamlessly.
There do seem to be a lot of mountains, but they're really nice looking. The island probably wouldn't sustain a farming or agricultural people, but would be excellent for a more viking/nomadic culture. Especially if the climate is particularly harsh.

PS. : just a sudden idea, but what if the "harsh climate" was actually more like hot jungle, or amazonian? With a (literally) volcanic past? If there are a couple of dormant (but even somewhat marginally active) volcanoes left, that would be a really "harsh" environment, and the hot climate could be just as hard to handle as a cold one.

#EDIT: oh, and welcome to the guild! I can't wait to see more.

everyone thank you for your comments!

@kestrelgrey: you think like that? all thanks to the parchment-maker, its from google, just to give it a try, and really makes it authentic!
interesting thoughts about the clima! Still, i like it to be more vikingish.

I really like it! I especially like how you did the waves at the shore. Plus, the banner and compass rose. (I enjoy drawing custom compass roses and they can be a challenge.) It looks super on the parchment paper background.

If you'd like it vikingish, how about a viking ship in the ocean? Or a viking helmet in the banner?

Did you think about naming the ocean?

I like the banner and the overall feel and look, but I find the writing hard to read.
