    Default January 2019 Challenge: RingWorld

Hello , I might try this time to partecipate , as I am usually never able to finish or partecipate in one ...
I got an idea and I hope to be able to pursue it , but can't assure I will be able to finish ... so don't count on it ... but ...

In any case here is a preliminary idea ...

I yet dunno what technique to adopt but anyway ...

    Thankyou.

    Here an Update...

I added a greebled surface on borders, I am planning a gas giant on the right or may be a scorched Earth ... then a moon on left or "the Moon" and then the sun in distance ...

the dark area supposely should feature night lights ...

I saw the title read "ringworld" but this wasn't quite what I imagined What a curious concept. Is this some existing sci-fi setting or something you just came up with?

@Kellerica I do see some resemblance to the Halo ring worlds. @Naima Awesome challenge to take on though! Can't go wrong there.

(Btw, I am a huge Halo fan, so I am looking forward to seeing this one.)

Interesting and quite difficult, I'd say... but I'm pretty sure you're gonna do wonders with this, Naima .

Interesting! Depending on the actual size, this could be considered as a Banks Orbital. These are quite big though, since they have to rotate with a period of ~ 1day with a earth-like gravity. About 3 million KM in diameter.

Thanks for the thrust, I have abandoned the idea to manually paint as I think it would not look consistant with other elements like mechanical Ring and planets ... so I will try to make a photobashing of real maps ... hope it wil come better than my actual latest attempts ... in meanwhile I improved a bit the ring ...

This is one of the possilbe ideas, the other is instead a tilted look and a different perspective, I have to choose one and stick with it as I can't make both , still not decided ...

Aboutcalculations sincerely I didn't make any , neither I intend to lol ... I am just making as it comes ... Not even sure I will be able to complete as photobashing is seeming a little complicate ...
