Default October 2017 Challenge: Juando, The Dragon Island

Had a thought yesterday about this, and decided to quickly draw up a sketch last night. I quite liked it as a start so I think I'll probably dive headfirst into this challenge, though I don't think I'll be able to make a proper start for a few days yet.

    My main words are:
Dragon - this hopefully will be pretty obvious
    Cave
    Port
    Children (Child)
    Loneliness (Alone)

And I'm sure plenty of the others will find their way in too!

I have a basic lore and quest idea planned out and I'll elaborate when I actually get started properly.

Anyway, here's my super, duper sketch featuring some top knotch renditions of Gandalf the Grey and Gimli in pursuit:

Oh that is just a superb idea

(Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Mouse is STILL trying to draw a dragon that doesn't look like a turkey! )

What a wonderful start - then again, everything with dragons in it has a head start on the rest

I'm excited to see this one through, I love the concept and can't wait to see what you do with it... Very nice so far.

Well, I'm not sure about that, besides a turkey dragon sounds cool. It gobble gobbles up all the sheep!

Yeah, thanks Kacey! I'm hoping to get a proper crack on with it today with some actual linework in place, but we'll see!

LOL! I might be brave enough to show my ridiculous looking dragon sometime tomorrow, but for now I'll just wait a bit to study yours, as I'm sure it will turn out splendid

interesting sketch! I was actually thinking of trying to do a dragon island map, but it looks like you beat me to the punch! I will have to see what else I can come up with!

    yet tranquility proceeds

Okay, well first things first this WIP is a little overdue. I had a couple of attempts at starting this map and getting nowhere I was happy with (I foolishly decidedly to attempt it ISO before coming back to proper top down perspective ). Anyway, I have got a fair bit further than this image already, but have been jumping around so much I thought it would be nice to scale it back for the first WIP and allow more of a continuous build up in the follow ups.

Anyway, not really much for people to comment on yet, but it's an update nonetheless.
