Default April 2018 Challenge: Dolinde-Realm of Books, Jewels and Taverns

So even though I still have a map I am working on from the Prophecy challenge as well as another personal project this idea was so intriguing I am going to start a thread and hope for the best that I can finish something here.

I made no changes to the stats. My son also gave me a few other restrictions for this challenge:
The realm is almost exclusively situated its own island/continent.
The tech level relates to 'steampunk'.

The capital city focuses on jewels, books and booze.

I stared at a lot of rolls to get some idea of average ratios for some occupations so I could figure out what the economy would be here. This realm has abnormally high amount of jewelers, taverns, booksellers. So I am using this as the basis for the economy and quirks of the capital city. I need to do another batch of random rolls to get a more detailed look if anything else stands out for the capital city, Aelwic.

Also a few other ratios I am using to guide my world building:

    • Number of booksellers is vague guide to education and maturity of the city.
    • The butcher-chicken butcher-fishmonger ratio gives a good idea of the protein sources of the city.
    • The ratio of priests to population gives some idea of religiosity.
    • The tailor-shoemaker-barber ratio gives some idea of the fashion focuses of the city.
    • Beer vs Wine ratio is a fun look into the culture of the cities
    • Mason vs Carpenter ratio givews some insight to the types of building materials that are common
    • Sculptor vs Painter ratio illuminates an artistic direction for the city

Wow! Nothing like a tall order from loved ones to get a mapper going

    Looking forward to the development.

I am not sure if the number of jobs is based on an equation or random. I also have no idea of what is a high number of jewelers per capita.
