Plenty of the processes used for making maps were pure black and white, with no colour or even grey. So that's my idea for a challenge. Make a map with just black and white. No colour, and grey is only permissible for antialiasing.

I honestly am torn by this. On the one hand absolute black and white offers an unique challenge. In order to give the map texture or shading , some sort of technique such as woodblock/engraving or something similar would have to be used. I would love to see how people attack this challenge. On the other hand I am quite confident that it would be above my skill level to produce a respectable entry under those restrictions. I'll be watching this challenge with great interest !

The last map i did was black and white, I've become quite comfortable with this.

I would probably have to do with with a pen because if I did it with a pencil I would automatically work the shades in. Hard habit to stay away from.

It seems that 9/10 of the map commissions I get these days are for B&W maps in novels...
It does take a different approach than many of the maps made here.
