Help Cave Battlemaps in Fractal Mapper

    Folks,

I'm very impressed with the skills of everyone here. I've been toying with Fractal Mapper mostly because of ease of use with layers and fractal shapes. I've used Gimp for some things, but still haven't put in enough time to make something presentable.

These maps are of a cave complex for use in Maptool. No grid, and moveable/destructable objects I'll place once I import into Maptool. These will suffice, but I am not quite satisfied.
What I want are floors with identifiable textures (ie, this is a rough cave floor, this is the same but different elevation) and permanent fixtures like stalagtites and such.

    Things I don't like:
Shadows seem wonky. FM has controls, but they seem arbitrary and random.
My objects/placeables don't match the textures. I suppose I'd have to import the objects I like (the rocks and such) into Gimp and then make a new texture pattern.

    Anyway:
Should I use a real program like GIMP?
Could I import these into GIMP and refine them?
    Any suggestions?

Thanks - the forum is a wonderful resource and inspiration.

Have some Rep! Both for being a first time poster and for making something using Fractal Mapper (which I have also) since we see very little over here from FM. If you are not already, sign up for the nbos mailing list, and you can ask any questions you may have over there. The programmer/owner(Ed) monitors the list and if no on else can help you, he can.

I rather like the maps, can't wait to see more.

    Thanks, jfrazierjr.

I'll be posting more by next week. I have a few midterms between now and then.

Damn midterms getting in the way.

    Thanks folks.
It took me longer than I'd have liked to get back to this!
I'm now able to do these pretty quickly now that I have a system down. In fact, I can do them REALLY quick unless I'm fiddly with a detail.

But I still haven't taken the time to find some better patterns or do post work in gimp.

    Still all on Fractal Mapper.
    Meant for import into Maptool.

    again, thanks for kind words.
    Suggestions?
