Holmkeep and surrounding area

My first finished map! Holmkeep is the starting point for a campaign world I run for some friends. Originally I tried to follow RobA's tutorial but was so new to digital art and the Gimp that I fell off the wagon quickly and wound up experimenting and doing the rest by hand. All the mountains are done by hand which took a really long time. The city icons were made from brushes Ramah provided which I modified and colored. The forest is made from a picture of Kale provided by Redrobes, recolored, reshaped and worked over. I am most happy with the way the oceans turned out. They were the result of attempting to follow the tutorial and then messing around with filters, stamping all over with the dodge/burn tool and then blurring it. Hopefully, I can recreate this but like I said, I barely new what I was doing. There are caverns running from the dungeons beneath Holmkeep deep into the Stormy Mountains and leading to the Sea but those are for another map.
