Very nice. I like the golden color variations, thats real purtty... It could use a little clean up as there are some artifacts in the blending from the golden colors to the shoreline colors just south of the city (and one within the city just to the right of the lowest ship, between the house).

The road doesn't fit the rest of the map. The houses and trees are all solid colors or subtle gradients with strong black outlines. So I'd treat the road similarly...solid color or slight gradient with a black outline. Looks pretty nice otherwise, good job.

I like it. Very nice map. Two comments though. The drop shadow makes objects look like they are floating. If you reduce the offset I think it might lessen that effect. Also, the beam coming off of the lighthouse wasn't clear to me at first as to what it was. I thought it was an artifact. Maybe if the light became diffuse at the edges and faded away. Just my thoughts. hth.
Update:Fixed the gradients and coloring as requested by jfrazierjr. I had kept the coloring, but made the trees a bit more, foliaged. Ascension's comment on the road had got me thinking. I did as requested, but keep in mind, this is a rough draft for the road. I have to touch up the pathways and such, but for the most part, it is as you had suggested. Last but not least, OldGuy. The drop shadow did look like they were floating, but only because I did not realize you could magnify that closely. In my final copy, I shall shrink the dimensions so that magnifying looses detail.
Any more thoughts? I plan to fix some of the shadows, fix the dock a bit, and continue to work with the roads. I need suggestions on roads. In one direction, I can make them solid as in how they are now, but I could also blur them to make them resemble environment, similar to the hill the castle is located upon.

I like the one with the outlines better. The blur you used to remove them is a little too obvious. Especially since the houses, walls, ships and trees all have clean black outlines, the outline coast is a better fit. Also the darker roads work, the lighter ones look nice, but the darker ones convey that it's a road better (especially in town and in the lighter parts of the southern road).
Also, I like the hint of texture you added to the open land. It looks like you missed the lighthouse island, however.
