Wip Ontolosna: The World Is Made of Story

Gedday folks - time for me to delurk.

I'm a long time rpg writer, author and convention organiser hailing from Canberra Australia.

I've been obsessing for several years now on an Asian-themed, progressive fantasy world called Ontolosna, set under three stationary suns on the back of a gigantic bird.

And of course, eventually you have to do a decent map. I've been lurking here for several months now, and my first serious attempt at a world map (WIP) can be found in my gallery here:

    http://www.cartographersguild.com/album.php?&u=16340

My tools are Photoshop, Illustrator, and DAZ Studio for the 3D models. I've learned an enormous amount from the tutorials on this site, and want to thank everyone who has shared their expertise.

    There's more on Ontolosna here:

    http://ontolosna.wikispaces.com/

The name roots are primarily Korean, and a Glossary is evolving as the map is finalised.

Feedback is always welcome. This is one fantastic community.

    Cheers

    John

Welcome from the darkness of lurkage and into the glorious light of ... um, what was it we say?

Well, welcome to the guild and thanks for sharing some of the work you have been doing. That map is great. The 3d stuff is cool too but I don't know much about that. I will say I think that lady in the last image is sensing that frightening cat monster thing sneaking up on her from the stairs.

I also don't like stuffed rabbit dolls which leads me to wonder if Alice in Wonderland might have scarred me as a child?

Great concept of the world on the bird too, love it. Hope to see more of you around.

Edit: Woohoo!, First to whack ya with a rep scepter!

Even to start with, that's a very good map you have. Aesthetically harmonious, detailed and interesting. We need more people who can make images of people and architecture. Not very mappish, but everybody likes an illustrated atlas.

Hope to see more of your work.

Excellent, well-detailed, crisp, awesome map. Cool background; I love Far East settings. And nifty 3D modeling. Repped, and welcome to, uh, DeLurkertude?
