Default Suggest Linux Screen Recorder Software?

So, I need some thing (FOS of course) that is easy to use, supports multiple file formats, is fairly easy to install, and allows for "call outs"(ie, I can add some text and arrows on specific frames of the video). Ease of use is the primary goal here, but the text support is also required. Audio support is not required, but would be helpful. I have used CamStudio a few times on Windows, but found it quite a PITA to deal with.

Any suggestions? BTW, I am on Ubuntu, so anything with an apt package would also be really helpful.

I'm not much help as I just last week installed Ubuntu for the first time on my old laptop. Heck of a time trying to get my wireless card to work. Gave up for now. Also, the sound doesn't work very well unless you plug in the earphones. Then it is fine. Strange.

I don't know if there is an Ubuntu version but for Windows FRAPS is a good one.

Thanks Jax. I ended up finding a few things for recording and a few things for editing... but none of the editing software I have found yet include any ability to add text callouts within certain frames. Since my primarily is to explain things in the video without having to resort to voice.... thats the thing I am missing at this point. I know Camtasia supports this, but I can't find anything comparable in linux(also, Camtasia has a horribly complex UI)

EDIT: read your requirements. can you just post-edit in http://www.openshotvideo.com/

Meet the gimp (a gimp photo videocast) uses: http://demorecorder.com/ but it isn't cheap.

    I've previously used:
    http://www.unixuser.org/~euske/pytho...flv/index.html
    but no audio support.

A quick google search found this reference: http://www.linuxhaxor.net/?p=815 which points to

    istanbul: http://live.gnome.org/Istanbul which looks good.
