    Default Greetings!

    Hi there.
To kick off this introduction, my name is Espen and I'm a geographer/GIS guy who after working with digital maps for many years decided that it would be fun to start making my own maps. I also used to play quite alot of RPG, so that probably helped as well. I have a Geology degree so I'm also interested in the, in lack of a better word, "logical" reasoning behind making a map based on a fantasy world, i.e. "is it feasible to put sand dunes next to an alpine mountain range" (which it might be, but hopefully you get what I'm trying to say).

My plan is to first start off with hand-drawn maps. I've done some maps already to try and figure out the symbology in relations to scale(city, world, region etc.), and I can already see that I need to have a plan for what it is I'm drawing before I start. Maybe a reference document outlining the type of symbols used for different scale maps? Likely, after I have browsed through this site some more I will have a few answers.

I'm looking forward to being part of the community and learning from you guys.

    Best regards

    Espen

Welcome to the Guild (and sure it's ok to have sand dunes next to alpine mountains. which of course are next to the Taco Bell...)

Uh oh, future member of the Geography Police I think? Actually we could probably use some more of that expertise in these parts...I know I'd benefit from it. Welcome to the Guild!
