Default Casting a wider freelancing net...

So as mentioned on another thread - I had to go to Gen Con this year to meet my co-publisher, my Kaidan writer/designer which i did. I also wanted to do a "meet and greet" session with Paizo Publishing, especially Wes Schnieder, Managing Editor at Paizo who commission me as an author to help create a Gazatteer as well as design a city map for their Jade Regent Adventure Path - for the last adventure. So I've got more work with Paizo coming up.

Meanwhile, to help pay for the overnight trip to Indianapolis, I did all the networking I could, hitting mostly the bigger name publishers rather than the small 3PPs for cartography work. One of the companies I talked to was Savage Mojo Games (makers of Savage World), and they contacted me last week, I've signed a contract and NDA already - same we day as the first Email from them. I've already been assigned to redesign 3 maps in an already published game supplement, and their Gamescape developer (map tile sets) has just sent me a commission for a moon base for a sci-fi game.

Though I look forward to any contact from the other companies I met with, it seems my networking is paying off already!

I'll show what I can, when I can - depending on their permission of course.

My goal is to try to replace my daytime income with steady cartography commissions from major publishers, ongoing development of my Kaidan publshed setting, authoring Pathfinder content for Paizo, and Gamer Printshop map printing business. I'm not quite half way there, if I can do it this year, I might try to do this full time instead. One can only hope...

If you're able to swing things so you can do it full-time, you'll be my hero. Good luck!

Wow, that's great news for you GP! I'm psyched for ya. Keep us in the loop as much as you can, it's good to hear how you are making it happen.
