WIP - The Black Company - Map of the North

A friend of mine is working on a campaign based on the books about The Black Company by Glen Cook, and asked me if I could make a nice map for him.

I said yes...

I had a hard time finding any good ( http://wraggj.people.cofc.edu/blackco/north.jpg ) reference-maps but my friend finally found one and scanned me a copy of a map that was in one of the books (at least I think he told me it was from one of the books).

And here's my meager start. 300dpi 80X40cm (so it's a large one). Just border and coastlines yet.

The map you posted is from the roleplaying-book that was published by Green Ronin for the (unfortunately) d20 System.

Portolan huh. I've always wondered what those lines are called. Lookin good so far

Quick point by point update....

1 - Drew a bird for "legend-shield".
2 - Photoshop crashed (didn't save for a couple of hours).
3 - Got really mad. Cursed alot!
3.5 - Hate computers for a while.
4 - Two weeks later, drew another bird. Saved my work several times.
5 - Made "legend-shield".
6 - Redid compass-rose. Like this one better.
7 - Drew several symbols for marking cities.

And I'm currently working on tree-symbols, as you can see at the top where the Great Forest will be.

And here are the tree-symbols. Now for spreading them around. Thought about creating a layer underneath the symbols and "filling" each tree with a soft green brush.
