    Default The Sevenfold Land

I've wanted to work on this for a while now and finally got the motivation to start it. This is a parallel Earth where magic (and a couple of non-human species) exists. It's supposed to be the world that gave rise to the Cibola and El Dorado legends, as well as being the place where the Roanoke settlers ended up. It's going to be the basis of a 'planetary romance' novel I want to write, in the tradition of ER Burroughs and Lin Carter.

For the map, I started out with an old 17th century French map, and reproduced it here in outline form, with several changes to coastlines.

I can't really make out what is land and what is water in this version but I really like the coast shape and form. I'll look forward to seeing another version when it's ready

You do realize it's far from done, right?

I kinda agree that you can't tell the land from the water. It'll make more sense once you add some color to help distinguish the two.

Hopefully you can tell land from water now.

NOTE: The mountains are not mine; they are brushes made from five mountains that lxdengar made and posted here. I've PM'd him asking his permission for this, but I don't think he's very active on the site. At any rate, they're just placeholders until I can sit down and draw my own. Proof of concept, I guess.

The rhumb lines are from Schwarzkreuz. The parchment background is again a modified version of one Torstan posted a while back.

Looking nice. Funny, I was so sure the land/sea divide was the other way around!
