    Default Norwich map 18th century

here's a map i worked on this morning as a present for my sister's B'day (she lives in the area depicted on the map). it took me a lazy 5-6 hours to do, with most of the time taken up by the labelling (damned labels!), most of which is based of a variety of old maps -16-18th century i was able find, so many names might not be the same as today's (like lowestoft, which on the map is labelled as lestoff)

    hope you like it

Wow! What a nice map. And only done in 5 hours (very short to a beginner like me ). I feel your pain about the labelling. Also, can I ask where you got the cartouche from? Did you draw it or did you find it somewhere?

    Anyways, good job!

Pretty nice one for a limited work time. The key looks a bit stucked on the map though

    Brilliant piece of work.
Can you be persuaded to do a tutorial someday? I would love to be able to do this, but I have no idea how to even begin

well, there's so little to this that i fear posting a tut might be a bit redundant - there's very few steps to show. the coast outline, rivers and roads are simple linework. there's a few overlay textures above it. the wave lines take a bit of work, though its just expanding the coast selection and feathering it, inverting it and deleting it, leaving the waves. that's about it really
