    Default Hello folks

    Hi people,

Happy I stumbled upon this site, it looks downright amazing.

As you might expect, I have an interest in cartography and am keen to get amongst the goings on in here.

My latest work may be viewed here Ougeoma Map on Behance

    regards
    Sam

I like this map a lot. Are you building it for a game or story? I really like the big rock outcrops. Welcome to the cartographers guild!

    Cheers,
    Meshon

Thanks a lot Meshon. It's for an ipad game hopefully. I like the rocks too... the idea for those came to me while I was sitting on the beach at Wategoes (Byron Bay, Australia) and admiring the large round stones that are embedded in the sand (eg. http://www.totaltravel.com/images/ph...646/479939.jpg )

Welcome to the Guild Swixel! That's a very nice map. I must say tough that I'm not sure what to make of the rocks; they seem very odd given the scale of the map. Is there some explanation as to why there are free standing boulders that are as large as entire mountain ranges? If not, to be honest, I think the map would be more consistent if these boulders were replaced by mountain ranges.

    Cheers,
    -Arsheesh

Hi Arsheesh, thanks for the feedback. Yeah they are a little too large perhaps. They are monoliths and are actually inspired by the granite belt around Girraween and also The Olgas =)

Hi all, just a note to let you know about this new publication, featuring my Ougeoma map (seen in this thread) among many other amazing cartographic works. "Cartographics: Designing the Modern Map" is a hefty tome at well over an inch thick and a worthy addition to any coffee table :-)
