Welcome aboard!
You've come to the right place. What software, etc. are you using/would like to use? That will go along way toward who can be of the most help. Though everyone here is always willing to lend a hand, give feedback, etc.

Thank you.
I'm using GIMP and Inkscape,
Also It's on a Linux OS.
Lots of good tutorials, etc. on GIMP, and I think RobA will be happy that there is another Inkscape user lurking about.

Thank you.
I'd most likely use Inkscape to make the maps, as I'm a tad rusty at GIMP.
My first map will be of Corruscant for a Text based MMORPG.
Cool, well it wont be a text based adventure any more !
Welcome.
Welcome to the guild. May you learn much and post more!
Thank you both, for the welcome.
Hi Daniel!
I'd like to see what you accomplish in Inkscape.
Here is a long WIP I started in Inkscape:

I have almost abandoned it as as the program is too slow rendering this many objects and blur effects...
