    Post Hello there ;)

    Hello there.

I'm Igor, from the central part of Ukraine. I came here to find someone who can help me with maps. I'm writer and storyteller, with hands that can write down worlds from my head, but, dammit, can't draw them at all! Okay, I like broasting a little. Now I stop with that.

Well drawing maps is not my thing, but i'll read you I try to learn all I can, because from what I saw I can say - cartography is awesome, and you guys are awesome too. And yes, I hope, that speaking with you will help me to improve my english, which is not as good as I wanted to.

Oh. That's all for now, I think.

Welcome to the Guild, Igor. We can help you with maps in two ways at least. One, if you gather enough interest, someone may be willing to draw for you. But secondly, you can take that lack of drawing ability and turn it into maps of your own making! Seriously - I recall at least one tutorial that has "... For the non artist" or similar in its title. Many of the methods we use here can generate decent results with more craft than art, if that distinction is clear. One can use freely available elements others drew, as part of your work. There's software that generates interesting landforms, or erodes shapes to be realistic terrain.

Look through the tutorials - maybe one will grab your interest.

Oh, and your English is plenty understandable.

    Thank you. I'll try then.

Actually, I already tried to draw sometning about 5 years ago. After pack of lessons and tutorials, all I managed to finish was this map.

Then it looked too ugly for me, and I stopped drawing at all.

Welcome to the Guild, Igor. I once felt same as you, "can't draw map at all", but we have to try and draw.
Never stop trying, even if it looks ugly. We can always polish it. The map looks good to me.

    Default Hello there ;)

Welcome! I've always said I had trouble drawing stick figures, but practice and the expertise around this site made a huge difference. You'd be surprised at what you're capable of
