    Default Most happy greetings!

I am thrilled to have found such a lively and welcoming community.

My name is Cate, and I have been drawing maps for my stories for longer than I care to divulge. My main goal is to improve my skills, and create beautiful maps for my new fantasy series. I look forward to reading through the threads, and learning from all of you.

    Cheers.

Welcome, Cate. What's a rough type or style you're shooting for? I see from your online presence you understand the allure of bonus content and creating interest across your series... Would you figure on making a color map for web that looks okay grayscale for print? Or would that be better as two wholly different maps from the git-go?

Thanks for the welcome! I love the parchment maps from Lord of The Rings, and have a fondness for black and white over color. Most of my hand drawn maps have been on parchment paper. I think a map just for my website would work better for me - possibly in color. Hmm... now you have me thinking in a different direction.

I am basing my main city loosely on places I've been in Great Britain, so I will also do city maps, regional maps, and interior maps - especially since much of the action takes place in the castle.
