    Post Hello!

    Hi!
I'm Ling, I'm from the UK. I enjoy fantasy map-making for the fun of it (Though it's never been any good) and I can spend hours dreaming up civilisations and histories, cultures and numerous beliefs. I've always really enjoyed making maps of these as it helps get a clearer picture.
The main reason I've joined now (Despite weeks of lurking) is that I'm undergoing a personal project of writing a novel-length story. Which is... Ambitious, at best.
Who knows? I might even get it published (Though I highly doubt that). One thing I want to do, however is map out, not only the fantasy world, but all of the villages, towns and cities. This may seem obsessive, and, let's face it, probably is. It'll help though, honest

Now, in attempt to stop rambling at all you lovely people, I shall stop typing

Naaaah, not obsessive. Appropriately compulsive, just maybe. Thinking up and drawing out as full a characterization of your world as possible gives you a better and better framework on which to hang stories. This is true even if you don't try to put all the detail *in* the stories. Which really you want to avoid; while details flesh out a story, too many become boring.

But to have created them makes the place more tangible, and is a *great* writer's exercise.

Oh, and welcome to the Guild!
