Borgar-firth

[Hauken Ikaros]

Hello everybody.
This is my first post inside "Finished maps". I'll start with a map made some years ago, for a book I was writing, about the historical (tough romanticized) lifes of several great Norsemen. This map in particular depicts the Borg Fjord (Borgar-firth), in Iceland, homeland of the poet, warrior and farmer Egill Skallagrimsson. I build it starting from aerial pictures and textures and I made a lot of researches to label the places. The toponym are all found in the Egill's Saga (ca. 1300 a.d.), tough their literal meaning is often translated into italian.

Quite an original work. I like the colors, except for a few lakes that are a bit too "dark blue" to my taste.
