Map First proper map - Revirir, and the surrounding areas

So, first post here. I'll start of by saying that I'm no 2D artist, I much more prefer to work in 3D.

So, let me start from the beginning, I'm a person that do quite a bit of forum based RP. I think it was about a year ago I made my first RP. It wasn't anything noteworthy, as another RP (we had 2 running at that time) had just shut down. Not wanting to let go of the RP, I created something that resembled the RP a bit over the next few days, and with it, I made the first map. It is quite horrible to look at.

At one point I look over the RP, and realize that what is written down about the world, and the actual world that I had kept on evolving was quite different. So different that I felt that I had to throw the whole thing out of the window, and start anew. With that came a new map with more locations, and a slightly better look. Still quite bad tough.

Fast forward some more, and one of the main people in the RP had to leave for around half a year. During that time, the RP was down. Now that half year have passed, again the setting and story that I have thought out have changed, but this time the changes will be possible to adopt so I'm not throwing his one out (yet). For this time however, I decided I wanted something that looked a bit more like a proper map, so I searched around a bit, found a few tutorials, and worked from there. Tomorrow, or some other day very soon I'm writing down the changes that I have yet to write down yet, and then I open the RP again. Here is the Map that I'll use. Unlike with the other maps, this map is the actual map one of the main characters actually do own. As such I have tried to add a bit more flavor to it, like not naming all the different places on the map, letting the borders be a bit of as it's an old map and other stuff.

I'll probably make a new one in the future sometime, as it was quite a fun project. I do know that if I do make a new one, I will make the lakes a bit smaller. It's kind of funny, because I've been saying the exact same thing with the other maps, but I never remembered to think of it while making the maps. Any other things that I should try to remember if I decide to make another one? Anything that is easy to fix that I should fix with the current one?

Just for the record, one of your 2 southern lakes has 2 outlets what is impossible.
A lake can have many inlets but only 1 outlet going to the sea.
Btw if you want to do 2D and not spend money for Campaign Cartographer you can go for Autorealm. It is no more maintained but it is free and does most of what one expects from 2 D soft.

Yeah I noticed that river after I looked around a few tutorials here when I was about a bit over halfway done. I decided to leave it tough as the forest it runs trough is a weird spacetime bending, endless place where space and time doesn't flow like normal. I figured a river that a river that flows both ways at the same time would be a quite good addition to that.

As for this map, I mainly used Photoshop as it seemed like the most obvious choice. If I were to chose a special programme I would maybe go for World Machine as I could use it in the work I normally do. Thanks for the mention tough.
