Default Quick practice map: Heartvale 2015

So, I made this quick piece just to practice some basic coloring (amongst other stuff). Not much to say that haven't been said in the WIP post, except once again thanks for the help! Might not look like much in terms of color, but I learned tons from just this quick piece

All drawn by hand with traditional medium and then colored, slightly edited and labeled in PS.

Feedback, critique and comments much appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Tainotim

This looks real nice! I like your colors, and the blues and greens go well together. The red roofs are still a bit bright, but the only color I really don't like is the turquoise tower roofs in Ruby City, and the reason is that it's a different blue.

Blues are notoriously hard to match. Almost any green hues will look ok together, same for red/purples, but blues don't. When I need multiple shades of blue, I take the predominant one and then change only the brightness and saturation to get others. Changing the hue on a blue, even a little, will make it clash.

Very nice one, especially for a quick practice piece! Now that Chick pointed it out though, I think I agree about the turquoise roofs; they might have looked better in a blue closer to the sky color (or a green like the trees). But a lovely map it is

I really dig this style! And the muted colors suite it quite nicely.

Thanks friends! Means a lot. Funny thing, I actually thought what you and Chick comment on about the two other cities. Ruby City was the one I liked best when it came to color on the roofs

    Cheers,
