    Help Cartographic essay topic

    Hello guys,

I have a project to write an essay on a cartographic topic and I'm in need of some ideas.
It shouldn't be something general (as cartographic history), but something such as a method of thematic mapping.

    Thank you

Shaded relief, hypsometric tinting, Britain's Ordnance Survey, the United States Geographical Survey, cartographic symbology, the Open Street Map project, modern career paths for cartographers, a biographical summary of an influential cartographer such as John Speed or Gerardus Mercator, rhumb lines, compass and map navigation methods, a comparison of various map projections with use cases.

    Hope that helps!

You might look into the mapping project that has been happening recently for the victims in Nepal http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=30443.

I only say this because is there a more important reason to make maps than to provide information that saves lives?

What about something of scale and generalization
