Default *** June 2015 Challenge : The Canvas and the Map ***

    Hey all,

This month's challenge is to make a map that must relate in some ways to the canvas it's drawn on. You can pick any kind of map you want, as long as it's related to the material used to make it. For instance you could go with a primitive carved map on a piece of wood, a sci-fi map on a futuristic interactive board, a map embroided on a piece of fabric or an old japanese map painted on a old piece of linen.

As always, please include the following in your thread:

Title each new thread June 2015 Entry - <your title>

Precede each WIP image with the tag ### Latest WIP ###.

The contest will end sometime around the first of July and the winner shall receive a golden compass and praise form his peers.

Still trying to wrap my mind around it.. A map of Mars done on a Martian? Hmmm.

You could always do it on a Mars Bar.

    Sorry, I'm going now ....

Do I understand it correctly that one could possible just make a hand drawn map, in a older style, on a old paper texture? Fairly straight forwards for us in the traditional-medium club. Or, does the map have to be more "themed" like in the examples above?

    Either way, fun challenge!

The way I understand it, it's fairly open to interpretation (like many of our contests), so your example is good, in my book.

All the entries of this month's challenge are fantastic so far. Very interesting ideas. This is going to be a great challenge to watch unfold.
(I know, it's not common here to spam threads with stupid gifs, which i totally love about this forum, but i couldn't resist in this case )

LOL! I'll save that gif for when it's time to vote. *not looking forward to choosing*
